Those looking for a ridiculously powerful, factory-backed Dodge Challenger may not have to wait very much longer if sources are to be believed.
According to Allpar the Dodge Challenger SRT8 Hellcat will debut at next week’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
While we brought you images of the SRT8 Hellcat testing in the desert some months ago, all news surrounding Dodge’s ultra-powerful Challenger has been almost none existent since. What still remains unclear, however, is whether or not Dodge will only show off the engine or show off the entire car.
The engine in the Hellcat is expected to be an SRT-exclusive 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces in the neighborhood of 640-700 horsepower. Compare that to the 470 horsepower of the current Challenger SRT8 and you have got yourself one sinister package.
All that power should translate to a 0-60 mph time in the high 4-second range, according to sources.
We will have to wait until next week to see if the Challenger SRT8 Hellcat will make its presence known. Until then, click here to check out spy shots of the Hellcat testing in the desert.
