Audi Quattro Concept Confirmed for Frankfurt Debut

Audi-Quattro-Concept

Rumors of  an Audi Quattro concept have been coming hot and heavy over the past week. Audi has now confirmed that the Quattro concept will in fact be making a public appearance at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to a report by German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, the revised Quattro concept will be based on the RS7 platform with power coming from both a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and electric motor. Expect 600 hp from the engine and around the equivalent of 170 hp from the electric motor.

Audi-Quattro-Concept-Side-ViewCombined power from the engine and electric motor will be 800 hp with 1,000 nm of torque. The sprint from 0-60 mph will come up in 3.4 seconds on the way to a top speed of 186 mph.

In terms of design, expect the concept to look very similar to the 2010 design study pictured above. The design is one of the things Audi has declined to comment on — we’ll have to wait for Frankfurt for that.

The Audi Quattro concept will have a limited production run starting in 2016. Prices are said to start at $265,200 USD — nearly twice the price of earlier rumors.
