A new rumor has surfaced claiming that BMW is planning on adding another to its growing division of ‘i’ cars.
Rumored to be called the i9, the new car will allegedly be built off the existing chassis of the i8. While the i8 will only be sold as a two-door, the i9 will be released as a four-door. The idea that BMW would release a four-door version of the i8 is not entirely far-fetched, either. Recent changes to BMW’s lineup have seen the 3-series coupe re-badged as a 4-series, which opens the door for a similar scenario with the i8.
If the reports are to be believed, BMW will release the i9 sometime in 2016.
Having already registered trademarks for all names i1-i9, it seems only a matter of time before BMW fills out their i line-up in a similar fashion to their normal range of cars.
Nothing has been confirmed by BMW as of yet, but we will keep you updated as we hear more.
