A 1977 Ford Escort MK2 RS1800 driven by the late Colin McRae during testing will be auctioned off at the upcoming Silverstone Auction.
The auction, which will be held on February 22, 2014 will be the first time the vehicle has ever been up for public sale. Silverstone Auction estimates the final hammer price to be between 65,000 and 85,000 GBP (106,000-139,000 USD).
The car was built by Prefab Motorsports Engineering, with Colin McRae performing all the development testing on the car. Colin’s father, Jimmy McRae then drove the car to the top step of the podium in the 2006 Roger Albert Clark Rally. Alister McRae, Colin’s brother, then drove the car to first place in the Colin McRae Memorial Rally in 2008.
Shortly after its win in the Colin McRae Memorial Rally, the car was rebuilt and run bot the 2010 and 2011 Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca in Spain.
