The much anticipated McLaren P13 has been spotted testing in Germany. Originally thought to be a revised version of the MP4-12C Spyder, McLaren has confirmed the mule is in fact
being used to test new technology to be used in the McLaren P13, including engine and bodywork refinements.
The McLaren P13 will be powered by the same 3.8-liter V8 engine, with power output expected to be around the 450 hp mark. McLaren is targeting yearly sales of around 2,500 units for their ‘entry-level’ supercar that is expected to compete directly with the likes of the Porsche 911.
Over the past week or so, spy photographers have captured the mule doing early development work at the Nurburgring ahead of its scheduled 2015 release date. The P13 is expected to take many of its styling cues from the McLaren P1 and is rumored to ditch the MP4-12C style headlights in favor of full LED bulbs. McLaren is also reported to be doing devlopment work on a more powerful variant of their 3.8-liter V8, although it is unclear if this mule is doing that development work as well.
The McLaren P13 is expected to cost around £120,000 when it is released sometime in 2015. Meanwhile, check out the gallery of spy photos.
